1 Unboxing & Initial Setup

Welcome to the world of secure cryptocurrency management. Your Ledger device is your personal vault for digital assets.

When you open your package, you'll find:

Before setup, verify your device's authenticity by checking the holographic seal and ensuring the device hasn't been tampered with.

2 Installing Ledger Live

Ledger Live is your gateway to managing your crypto assets securely. This desktop and mobile application allows you to install apps, manage accounts, and conduct transactions.

Download Ledger Live exclusively from the official Ledger website. Avoid third-party sources to prevent phishing attacks.

The installation process includes:

• Creating a strong Ledger Live password
• Connecting your Ledger device via USB
• Initializing the device as new or restoring
• Installing necessary cryptocurrency apps

3 Creating Your Recovery Phrase

Your 24-word recovery phrase is the most critical element of your security. This phrase represents the master key to all your cryptocurrencies.

During setup, your Ledger device will generate a unique 24-word recovery phrase. Important guidelines:

• Never digitize your recovery phrase (no photos, cloud storage, or typing)
• Write it down on the provided recovery sheet
• Store it in multiple secure locations
• Never share it with anyone - Ledger will never ask for it
• Consider using metal backup solutions for fire/water protection

This phrase can restore access to your assets if your device is lost, stolen, or damaged.

4 Installing Crypto Apps

Ledger devices support over 1,800 cryptocurrencies through dedicated apps. Each cryptocurrency requires its own app installation.

To install apps:

• Open Ledger Live and navigate to the Manager tab
• Connect and unlock your Ledger device
• Allow the manager on your device when prompted
• Browse or search for the cryptocurrency apps you need
• Click "Install" - the app will download to your device

Device storage is limited, so you may need to uninstall less frequently used apps. Your funds remain safe regardless of app installation status.

5 Adding Accounts & Receiving Crypto

After installing cryptocurrency apps, you can create accounts and receive funds securely.

To add an account:

• Go to the Accounts tab in Ledger Live
• Click "Add account" and select the cryptocurrency
• Open the corresponding app on your Ledger device
• Verify the account details match on both screens

When receiving cryptocurrency:

• Always verify receiving addresses on your device screen
• Send a small test transaction first for large amounts
• Be aware of network compatibility (e.g., ERC-20 tokens require ETH)
